Custom AI applications AI-powered applications built for your business
DI-DS designs, builds and operates custom AI-powered applications for commercial clients:
internal tools that take manual work out of a business process, and customer-facing
products with AI at the core. Each engagement is scoped in writing to a fixed price and
delivered as working software on a schedule you can plan around.
Fixed price per scopeScope, price and acceptance criteria are written down before work begins.
Working software at each milestoneMilestones are typically two weeks apart, and each one ships something you can use.
Built and operatedWe run the systems we deliver, or hand them over with documentation and training.

What we build Internal tools and customer-facing applications
Most of the AI work that pays for itself sits inside an ordinary business process: documents
that someone reads and re-keys, questions that someone answers from the same files every
week, decisions that wait on a report. We build the application around that process, with
the model doing the part a person should not have to do and a person keeping the part that
needs judgment.
Internal business tools
Applications your team uses every day, connected to the systems you already run.
- Document processing. Invoices, claims, contracts, forms and records read, extracted and routed into your systems of record.
- Knowledge assistants. Answers drawn from your own documents, with the source cited on every response.
- Workflow automation. Intake, triage, classification and approvals, with a person in the loop where the decision matters.
- Forecasting and reporting. Demand, risk and quality models delivered as dashboards and alerts your managers act on.
Customer-facing applications
Products and features your customers use, built to run at production scale from the first release.
- AI features inside your product. Search, recommendations, summarization and assistants added to the software you already sell.
- Web and mobile applications. New products with a model at the core, designed, built, deployed and maintained end to end.
- Computer vision in the field. Detection, measurement and identification from phone cameras and fixed cameras, on the device or in the cloud.
- Grounded assistants. Chat and voice assistants that answer from approved sources and hand off to a person when they should.
Solutions Where clients start
These are the applications we are asked to build most often. Each one is described on the
solutions page with what you provide, what you receive, and how it is delivered.

How it works From a written brief to a system in production
The process is designed to be run asynchronously. A short written brief starts it, a
fixed-price proposal follows, and meetings are held when they are useful rather than on a
schedule.
01
Define
You describe the process or product in a short brief. We confirm the goal, the data you have, and the outcome the work will be measured against, typically within a week.
02
Design
We design the architecture, choose the models, and return a fixed-price proposal with milestones and acceptance criteria.
03
Build
Development proceeds in milestones, typically two weeks apart, each delivering working software you can test against real data.
04
Operate
We deploy to your cloud or ours, monitor the system, retrain models as the data changes, and support your team, or hand everything over documented.
The full process
Built and operated by DI-DS We run production AI ourselves
DI-DS develops and operates its own applications with company funds, which is where our
delivery practices are tested before they reach a client. Goatie, a computer vision and
records platform, is in public operation today.

Goatie
A computer vision and records platform performing object detection and animal re-identification across sessions on a hybrid edge and cloud architecture. Detection and re-identification run at the edge with cloud aggregation, and every inference states its reasoning and confidence.
View live → Engagement models Three ways to work with us
Every engagement is fixed in scope and price before it starts. The three shapes below cover
most projects; a brief tells us which one fits.
Discovery and scoping
A short, fixed engagement to confirm the goal, assess the data you have, design the architecture, and return a fixed-price proposal with milestones. Suited to a process that has not been automated before.
Fixed fee, typically two weeks
Application build
Design, build and deployment of the application to a scope agreed in writing. Working software at each milestone, acceptance criteria stated in advance, and a defined handover or operating arrangement at the end.
Fixed price per scope
Operate and improve
Monitoring, retraining, support and incremental features for a system in production, whether DI-DS built it or not. Monthly reporting on cost, quality and what changed.
Monthly, scoped to the system
Services The services around the application
An application is rarely the only thing a project needs. DI-DS provides the services before
and beneath it, each scoped and priced on its own when that is what the project calls for.
AI & Data Consulting
Opportunity assessment, strategy and roadmaps, vendor and model selection, and integration guidance scoped to your team and budget.
Custom AI Modeling
Purpose-built and fine-tuned models trained on your data and evaluated against your metrics, delivered with documented results.
Dataset Acquisition & Building
Datasets sourced, collected and constructed with provenance and licensing documented at every step. You own the dataset.
Data Labeling & Curation
Annotation and labeling with quality assurance on every pass, treated as engineering work with acceptance criteria.

Security and governance Built to pass review
Applications are designed from the first milestone to operate inside your compliance
program, with access control, audit logging, data boundaries and human approval gates
treated as requirements rather than additions. For organizations that need an independent
review of an AI system, including one built by someone else, DI-DS provides fixed-price
assessment services.
AI Assurance Audit
An independent review of one AI application covering architecture, threat model, prompt injection, data boundaries, access control, model behavior, logging and governance.
